Regarding life of the Board:-

                            Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, Haryana was constituted on 26-11-1968. Later on the life of the Board was extended for a period of 7 years vide Haryana Gazette Notification No. Leg. 12\1971 dated 10-03-1971 i.e. 26-11-1975. On the request of the Board, the life of the Board again extended for the period of twelve years vide Haryana Gazette Notification No. 3 of Leg. 79 dated 9-1-1979 i.e. upto 26-11-1980.

                             The life of the Board was further extended by the government vide notification No. 21 of the year 1984. After this extension, the extension in the life of the Board was granted by the government on dated 22-12-1986 vide notification No. 27 of 1986. In the year 1987, the Haryana Government removed the first nominated Board and constituted the new Board with five members on 17-06-1988. The Haryana government removed the second Board also vide notification No. 18\31\965HBIV, dated 03-09-1996. After that the life of eh Board was extended by the state government upto 25-11-1999 vide notification no. nil of 1998, dated 13-7-1998. The life of the Board has been extended by the State Government vide notification No. Leg-2000 dated 26-6-2000 i.e. 25-11-2001. Last time the life of the Board had been extended by the State Government vide notification No. Leg-8\2004, dated 8-3-2004 i.e. 25-11-2006.

                            The third Board was constituted by the State Govt. vide notification No. 18/10/92-5HBIV dated 4-1-2000. Thereafter-State Govt. nominated two another members vide notification No. 18/101/92-5HBIV dated 26-6-2000. Last time the life of the Board had been extended by the State Government vide Notification No. leg-8\2004 dated 8-3-2004 i.e.25-11-2006. On the request of the Board, the state government has notified the election of 7 members along with nominations of four members vide notification No. 18/16/92-HB-II, dated 6-1-2006.

Aim and objectives:-

                             East Punjab Act No. 14 of 1949 was enacted by the Punjab State Govt. to regulate the qualifications and to provide registration of practitioners of Indian system of Medicines with a view to encourage its development and this was called East Punjab Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act, 1949. Later on this Act was replaced in 1963 and the said Act became " The Punjab Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act, 1963"

Constitution:

                            The Punjab State was bifurcated on 1-11-1966. After that the Haryana Govt. by amending sub section 6 of section 3 of the Punjab Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act, 1963 established the Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, Haryana on 26-11-1968 for a period of two years.

                            The Haryana Govt. constituted first Board on 18-2-1970 by nominating the Director, Health Services as its Chairman along with five non-official members. The Govt. removed the first nominated Board on 9-7-1987 and re-nominated members were also removed vide notification No. 18\31\96-5HBIV dated 3-9-1996. Last time the life of the Board were extended by the Govt. vide notification No. Leg-8\2004, dated 8-3-2004 i.e. upto 25-11-2006.
